2007 Match Play Championship
The Match Play Championship has started at beautiful Lake Panorama National Golf Course. On Friday, May 11, the Co-Chairmans Bill Douglass and Brandon Waddle drew the names for the matches. This year's field includes a record number 73 players, all trying to get the title of 2007 Match Play Champion.
The Road to the Final Four goes through four brackets. The four brackets are the Ahrendsen, Lowe, Oxley, and Godwin. These four brackets contain the bracket champions for last years tournament.
The Rules:
-Matches consist of a 9 or 18 hole match. We encourage 18 hole matches. Decide on this on the first tee and not 4 down on 6 green. The quarters, semi's, and finals will be 18 holes.
-USGA rules are in effect. If you don't know them I'm sure your opponent will.
-Play the ball DOWN.
-Ties will be broken by playing extra holes until someone wins.
-Contact and player information will be in the pro shop.
-Loser will buy the winner one drink.
-Entry Fee is $5.00
-Pay our will be for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Place.
The Handicap:
The goal is to create an Even Match using tee separation and not strokes.
-You will be separated by tee boxes according to the difference in handicaps (ie, 10-5 = 5, you would be seperated by one tee box)
-Use the most current Handicap, in the Ghin system.
-The higher handicap will choose the tee boxes.
-The separation scale:
---- 0 to 4 - same tees
---- 5 to 10 - one set of tees
---- 11 to 15 - two sets of tees
---- 16 and up - three sets of tees
If you have any questions, please contact the pro shop at 641-755-2024 or call Bill Douglass.
The Brackets:
The 2007 Match Play brackets will be posted inside the pro shop by the ghin system computer. These brackets will be the official scoring system and be the most up to date on completed matches. This website will also be updated as time permits with the completed matches.

2006 LPN Match Play Championship:
The Road to the Final 4
Objective:
To have a match play tournament among the members. This is a good warm up for the Solheim and Ryder cup matches. To play some golf with other people at the golf course and have fun.
The Rules:
• Matches consist of a 9 or 18 hole match. We encourage 18 hole matches. Decide this on the first tee and not 4 down on 6 green. The quarters, semis, and finals will be 18 holes.
• USGA rules are in effect. If you don't know them I'm sure your opponent will.
• Play the ball DOWN.
• Ties play extra holes until someone wins.
• Contact and player info will be in the pro shop or on the LPN web site
• Loser will buy the winner one drink
• The entrance fee will be $5.
• Pay out for 38 players will be $105 first, $40 second, and $20 for third and fourth
• If there are any Questions call Bill Douglass at 901-484-3055 or Gary Babcock at 755-2024.
The Handicap:
The goal is to create an even match using tee separation and not strokes. This format gave some surprising results last year so we are trying it again. We are open for suggestions for next year.
• You will be separated by tee boxes according to the difference in handicaps (ie: 10-5 = 5 you would be separated by one tee box)
• Use the most current handicap.
• The higher handicap will choose the tees which the match will be played from.
• The separation scale: (difference between 18 hole handicap)
0 to 4 same tees
5 to 10 one set of tees
11 to 15 two tees
16 and up three tees
• If one player is a 10 from the red and the other is a 10 from the yellow that is an even match. Let 'er rip.
Words of Wisdom and the Twist:
• Say hello to the Pros, they are playing this year. They will be at the back tees and will give your entire handicap. So you Draw John "YES SIR!!!" Dinnebier, Gary "Goo" Babcock, or Mike Kleinwolterinkenstien and you have an 18 handicap, you get to play the red tees and get a stroke a hole. Tees and strokes.
• If you stay in the fairway your odds of winning go way up.
• We need a big trophy cup for the winner. Something that will "announce your presence with authority". If you have some thing and you are willing to donate it, we will waive the entrance fee.
